*Massage Therapy*

Swedish Massage
One of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The disrobed client is covered by a sheet, with only the area being worked on exposed. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements, with the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury manipulation.
Neuromuscular Deep Tissue
This comprehensive program of soft-tissue balances the body's central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system. Based on neurological laws that explain how the central nervous system initiates
and maintains pain, the goal is to help relieve the pain and dysfunction by understanding and alleviating the underlying cause. Neuromuscular therapy can help individuals who experience distortion and biomechanical dysfunction, which is often a symptom of a deeper problem. It is also used to locate and release spasms and hypercontraction in the tissue, eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain, rebuild the strength of injured tissues, assist venous and lymphatic flow, and restore postural alignment, proper biomechanics, and flexibility to the tissues.
Prenatal/Pregnancy Massage
Performed by a trained perinatal specialist, many methods of massage and somatic therapies are both effective and safe prenatally and during labor and postpartum periods of womens pregnancies. Prenatally, specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. Skilled, appropriate touch facilitates labor, shortening labor times and easing pain and anxiety. In the postpartum period, specialized techniques rebalance structure, physiology, and emotions of the new mother and may help her to bond with and care for her infant. Specialized, advanced training in the anatomy, physiology, complications, precautions, and contraindications is highly recommended, and many practitioners require referrals from physicians prior to therapy.
Chair Massage
Known as seated massage, chair massage, or on-site massage, this technique involves the use of a specially designed massage chair in which the client sits comfortably. The modern chair massage was originally developed David Palmer, but the technique is centuries-old, with some Japanese block prints illustrating people having just emerged from a nearby bath, receiving massage while seated on a low stool. Seated massage includes bodywork and somatic techniques, such as shiatsu, amma, and Swedish massage, provided to the fully clothed client in a variety of settings, including businesses, airports, and street fairs.

Thai Body Work
The art of Thai bodywork achieves a deep therapeutic effect without harsh physical force through efficient use of movement, conscious touch, breathing and rhythm.  Since it is given on a floor mat with the client fully clothed, practitioners can use their whole body in leverage and interactive work as they move and rock the client into various positions, apply rhythmic touch as well as some cross-fiber stroking of muscle and tendons. The treatment can be vigorous or gentle depending on the need or preference of the client. Always respectful and caring, it is adjustable to suit most clients, young or not-so-young, athlete or spectator.
You do not have to already be flexible to get and enjoy Thai Bodywork.  And it does not have to hurt.

Hot Stone Massage
Melt away the stress in your life with a fabulous 75-minute Sanctuary Hot Stone Massage. Heated natural basalt stones are used by your therapist to massage your body for the ultimate in relaxation. These heated stones warm the muscle to make way for the massage stroke that follows. It allows your therapist to get deeper into your soft tissue, increasing circulation and healing. Treat yourself…your body will thank you!
G reat Escape Sugar Scrub
Wrap yourself in luxury. This body treatment is a beautiful way to care for your skin and have the ultimate in relaxation.
The treatment begins with a dry exfoliation. Next, a nourishing sugar scrub is gently brushed onto the skin and your body is cocooned in warmth to allow the scrub to penetrate. Warm, moist towels are used to remove the scrub and a rich, hydrating lotion is massaged into the skin. Ahh….
Paraffin Hands & Feet
A rich, hydrating lotion is massaged into your skin. Relax as you slide your hands or feet into the warmth of a paraffin mitten or booties. A scalp massage will melt away any lingering cares, as your skin drinks in the benefits of the moisture. The mitts or booties are removed and the skin is massaged to a soft and silky finish.
Ear Candling
A theraputic relaxation technique to help with wax removal and ear aches.  The flame creates negative pressure, drawing wax and debris out of the ear canal, which appears as a dark residue.
An ear candling session lasts up to one hour, during which one or two ear candles may be burned for each ear.
